アルヴァ・アアルトが手がけた数多くの椅子の中でも、この「チェア 66」は、最も「実直なスタンダード」としての気品を湛えています。1935年の発表以来、カフェやキッチン、そして住まいの中心で愛され続けてきた理由は、その揺るぎない造形バランスにあります。

最大の特徴は、広々と設計された円形の座面と、それを受け止める高めの背もたれ。アアルトの代名詞である「L-レッグ」が生み出す有機的な曲線が、椅子全体に知的なリズムと、建築的な安定感をもたらしています。背もたれに施された切り欠きは、持ち運びやすさという機能面だけでなく、空間に心地よい「抜け」を作り出すデザイン的な妙。
