「椅子は座面と背もたれで構成される」という自明の理を、この『Plankan（＝板）』は鮮やかに解体して見せる。1990年代のスウェーデン、Lammhults社から発表されたこのプロダクトは、座るという行為を「静止」から「次の動作への準備」へと再定義した、極めてラジカルな里程標です。

斜めに自立するラッカー仕上げの板に、ミニマルな金属のフレームとヘッドレストを添えただけの構成。その佇まいはストイックを通り越して、もはや建築的なドローイングがそのまま具現化したかのよう。ボルゲ・リンダウとボ・リンデクランツの二人は、重力に抗うような斜めのラインを引くことで、居住空間にこれまでにない知的なリズムをもたらしました。

ただそこにあるだけで部屋のコンテクストを書き換えてしまう、グラフィカルな引力。時代が求めた新しさへの渇望と、北欧の合理性が交差する場所で生まれた、デザインの特異点とも言える一脚です。
