衣替えをして、窓を大きく開け放つ日のような清々しさ。ハンス・ウェグナーが作ったこの「GE7」には、そんな、暮らしの調子を新しく整えてくれる力があるようです。

一番の魅力は、丁寧に編み上げられた籐（ラタン）の背もたれ。大きな家具なのに、向こう側の景色をふんわりと透かしてくれるから、お部屋が窮屈にならず、まるで大きな籠を置いたような軽やかさが生まれます。

ときには座って心ゆくまで本をめくったり、ときにはベッドにして体を休めたり。どんなに時代が変わっても、丈夫なチーク材とラタンの組み合わせは、私たちの毎日を静かに、そして誠実に見守ってくれます。

何十年という月日をかけて、ゆっくりと自分だけの色に染まっていく。そんな、育てる楽しみを教えてくれる、確かな道具です。
