アルネ・ヤコブセンが1954年に手がけた『Model.3170』。通称「ドットスツール」の名で親しまれるこの一脚は、彼が追求した「引き算の美学」が、最も身軽なかたちで結実したプロダクトです。

もともとは機能性を重視したラボラトリー（実験室）用の椅子として設計された背景を持ちますが、その削ぎ落とされた造形美は、発表から半世紀以上が過ぎた現代においても、驚くほど新鮮な知性を放っています。特筆すべきは、ヴィンテージ特有の深みを湛えたチーク材の座面と、細く軽快なスチール脚のコントラスト。

「点（Dot）」のように空間に置かれたその姿は、部屋の中に心地よい余白と視覚的なリズムをもたらしてくれます。スツールとしてはもちろん、ベッドサイドやソファの傍らでサイドテーブルやオブジェ台として使う際も、その建築的なプロポーションは凛とした美しさを保ち続けます。ヤコブセンのモダニズムが、最も純度の高い状態で凝縮された一台です。
