アルヴァ・アアルトの設計思想において、子供のための家具は決して「大人の縮小版」という妥協の産物ではありませんでした。1935年に発表されたこの『N65』は、L-レッグという完成された建築的システムを、子供のスケールへと鮮やかに翻訳したプロダクトです。

最大の見どころは、1950年代という Artek の黄金期を象徴する、ホワイトとブルーのクリーンなコントラスト。年月を経て、端々から覗くバーチ材の素地やペイントの剥落は、単なる劣化ではなく、半世紀以上にわたって誰かの幼少期を支え続けてきた雄弁な「時間の記録」に他なりません。この「枯れた質感」こそが、現行品には出せないヴィンテージだけの知的な色気を放っています。

子供のための椅子として実用するのはもちろん、リビングの片隅にオブジェのように佇ませ、お気に入りの画集や植物を載せるための「ステージ」として活用するのもいい。
