一日の終わりに、ふうっと深い呼吸をひとつ。1950年代、フィン・ユールが手がけた「ファイアープレイスチェア」は、その名の通り、暖炉の前でゆっくりと流れる時間を慈しむために作られた一脚です。

凛としたローズウッドのフレームは、まるで冬の夜に描かれた一筋の影のように美しく、指先を滑らせれば、木肌の奥に宿る静かな力強さに、心がしっとりと落ち着いていくのを感じます。

一番の魅力は、肘掛けから脚にかけて描かれる、どこか生き物のような有機的な曲線。熟練の職人による誠実な手仕事によって磨き上げられたその姿は、お部屋のなかに知的な静寂を運び、座る人を優しく、けれど誇り高く受け止めてくれます。
