家具が「視線」を持つ、という知的な倒錯。 アイヴァン・A・ヨハンソンが1960年代に Gern Møbelfabrik のために描き出した『Model.84』は、その名の通り「眼」を想起させる三つの開口部によって、空間に独特なキャラクターと緊張感をもたらす一脚です。

最大の見どころは、グラフィカルにくり抜かれた背もたれの造形美。ボーエ・モーエンセンの後継者としてFDBモブラーの責任者を務めたヨハンソンですが、彼が自身の作風として追求したのは、師譲りの実直さに加えられた、こうした「実験的なフォルム」でした。チーク材の重厚なテクスチャーの中に、三次元的なカーブと「抜け」のリズムを一分の隙もなく同居させている。

年月を経て、使い手の時間を吸い込みながら深い飴色へと遷移したチークのパティーナ。そこにキャメルカラーのレザーが組み合わさることで、居住空間に知的な温度と「物の強度」を提示してくれます。
